The Luol Deng Foundation Mission
While carrying out charitable work in Sudan, Chicago & the UK, the Luol Deng Foundation’s main mission is to provide means for Africans (children and adults alike) with access to the most basic human needs from shelter to water, and health to education. The Luol Deng Foundation works independently and collaborates with several organisations to achieve its purposes. Our goal is to empower those affected by poverty, war, displacement and preventable diseases, and in the process hope to help them gain control of their lives, provide for themselves and decide their own destinies, and plan for their futures.
The Luol Deng Foundation has worked with the UNHCR, Nothing But Nets, World Food Programme, the NBA and Chicago Bulls (to mention a few) to provide basic needs like shelter, water, educational materials and mosquito nets to those who need it most.
With the help of many, the Luol Deng Foundation will provide means to improve educational institutions and materials in Africa by paying for school uniforms and supplies. We will contribute to developing school systems, provide and introduce mini-libraries within schools and communities, help with adult education and create vocational training centres available for all. We will keep working in order to provide people the skills needed to lead in developing their given communities.
